Groundbreaking Celebration – July 2003
 
Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Groundbreaking Celebration on Wednesday, July 23, 2003 for the expansion project at Smithville Regional Hospital. An estimated 300 people braved the sweltering heat to attend Smithville Hospital Authority’s Open House and Groundbreaking Celebration for Smithville Regional Hospital on Wednesday.  
 
CEO Dennis Jack thanked SRH employees for all of their planning, preparation, and hard work on not only the celebration, but for "keeping the hospital running, with no decrease in the level of care, while many of us had our focus on the actual celebration."
 
Local and out-of-town guests all praised the hospital's organization of the event, from the tours of the facility and decorating, to the refreshments provided by Bill Miller’s Bar-B-Q and John Chabot, Dietary.
 
"Everyone was so impressed with the plans for the expansion, and we must not forget that our staff was really involved in the layout, design, and equipping of this wonderful facility" Jack said.
